Carbon dioxide (CO₂) can lead to death when inhaled in high amounts because it acts as an asphyxiant, pushing out oxygen from the air. This starves your body of oxygen, causing hypercapnia (too much CO₂ in your blood), which can lead to dizziness, confusion, and eventually stop your breathing or heart. It’s dangerous because you can’t get enough oxygen to survive.
