About halfway through your cycle, one ovary releases an egg. This can cause a sharp or cramp-like pain on one side of your lower belly.
2. Ovarian Cysts π₯
These are fluid-filled sacs that can form during the menstrual cycle. Most are harmless and go away on their own, but large or ruptured cysts can cause sharp, sudden pain.
4. Endometriosis β οΈ
A condition where tissue similar to the uterus lining grows outside the uterus, including on the ovaries. This can cause chronic pain, especially during periods.
5. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) π₯
An infection of the reproductive organs is often caused by STIs like chlamydia or gonorrhea. PID can cause ongoing pelvic or ovarian pain.
6. Ovarian Torsion (Emergency!) π¨
If an ovary twists, it cuts off its blood supply, causing sudden, severe pain. This needs immediate medical attention.
