This is because of two main reasons. One for exploration as babies use their mouths like we use our hands — to explore shape, texture, taste, and temperature. It’s one of the first ways they learn about the world. Two, babies when teething put things in their mouth helps relieve the discomfort of teething. The pressure can soothe sore gums.
