Eschatology is the branch of theology that studies the “last things” or ultimate events in human history and the destiny of humanity, including concepts such as death, judgment, heaven, hell, the second coming of Christ, and the end of the world. It explores how different religions and philosophical traditions understand the final fate of the soul and the universe, often offering hope, warning, or moral guidance based on beliefs about what happens after life or at the end of time.
There are 3 types of eschatology which describe the “end times”.
Religious eschatology: Judgement day, hell, heaven and end times as in the bible/Quran
Philosophical eschatology: Questions about the purpose and end of history, existence, and human destiny.
Scientific eschatology: Predicts the end of the Earth or universe based on cosmology or physics
