      What people call flu is an acute respiratory illness can be caused by different pathogens such as – Viruses (Influenza, RSV, rhinovirus e.t.c) or bacteria (Streptococcus pneumonia etc).

      However, flu can be referred to as an illness caused by Influenza viruses only in some context.
