0 Question: How do find being a scientist Asked by yaps20yet to Michael on 9 Jul 2025.
Michael Kimwele answered on 9 Jul 2025:
Being a scientist is both challenging and rewarding. What I find exciting about being a scientist:
Discovery – Every day brings a chance to learn something new or solve a real-world problem.
Creativity – Science is not just about facts; it’s about curiosity, asking questions, and thinking outside the box.
Impact – Scientific work can improve lives—through medicine, technology, agriculture, or climate solutions.
Collaboration – You get to work with bright minds from around the world on common goals.
Lifelong learning – Science keeps evolving, so you’re always growing and adapting.
What’s tough:
Experiments sometimes fail, and results take time—patience is key.
Funding and support can be limited, especially in developing countries.
Balancing life between research, teaching, and family can be demanding.
