Pigs have super tough stomachs with strong acids that can break down all kinds of weird things, so they’re less likely to get sick from eating “dirty” stuff compared to us. Their immune systems are also built to handle bacteria in their environment, like on farms where they roll in mud to cool off.

But, pigs can get sick if they eat something with harmful pathogens, like bacteria (Salmonella), viruses (like swine flu), or parasites (like worms) hiding in contaminated food, water, or soil. For example, if a pig chows down on spoiled scraps with nasty germs, it might get diarrhoea or an infection.
