Hey Debbie, there are quite a number of career options out there. I found this list online ,you can take a look and get familiar with them.
1. Biochemistry 🧪🧬(which I did) What you’ll study: The chemical processes in living things (like cells, DNA, enzymes).
Careers: Lab researcher, pharmaceutical industry, forensic analyst, medical researcher.
Where in Kenya: UoN, Kenyatta University, JKUAT, Moi University.
2. Biotechnology 🌱🧫 What you’ll study: Using living things (bacteria, plants, etc.) to make products like medicine, vaccines, or improved crops.
Careers: Vaccine researcher, GMO expert, biotech firm scientist.
Kenya use: Agriculture, health, environment.
3. Microbiology 🦠🧼 What you’ll study: Bacteria, viruses, fungi, and how they affect humans, animals, and the environment.
Careers: Work in labs, hospitals, or industries (like food safety, disease research).
Kenya context: KEMRI, CDC, food labs, water sanitation.
4. Environmental Science 🌍🌿 What you’ll study: Pollution control, waste management, ecosystems, water testing.
