While a physics background isn’t mandatory for medical school, it is highly recommended and often a prerequisite for aspiring neurosurgeons. Many medical schools require or strongly recommend physics, along with biology and chemistry, as part of their pre-med curriculum. Physics coursework helps build a strong foundation for understanding the medical concepts and procedures involved in neurosurgery, such as biomechanics, fluid dynamics, and imaging techniques.
