      Yes, bilharzia—also known as schistosomiasis—can cause significant problems in the urinary system, especially when caused by the parasite Schistosoma haematobium. This parasite primarily affects the urinary tract, leading to symptoms such as blood in the urine, painful urination, and bladder inflammation. Over time, chronic infection can result in more serious complications like kidney damage, bladder obstruction, and an increased risk of bladder cancer. In severe cases, it can also impair kidney function and cause long-term urinary tract problems if not diagnosed and treated promptly.

      Yes it can if left untreated or in chronic conditions. As the Schistosomiasis worm lays eggs in the urinary tract, this can lead to obstruction of urine flow, blood in urine, inflammation and scarring of the urinary tract and even urinary tract infections.

      So always treat it at the earliest notice to avoid more problems in the urinary system
