A benign tumor is a non-cancerous growth that does not spread to other parts of the body and is usually not life-threatening. A malignant tumor, on the other hand, is cancerous and can invade nearby tissues and spread to distant parts of the body, potentially causing significant health problems and even death.

Tumors are abnormal growths of cells arising from malfunctions in the regulatory mechanisms that oversee the cells’ growth and development. Tumors that grow and spread aggressively invading and destroying healthy tissues in the body’s major organ systems are refered to malignant, or cancerous. Benign tumors o the other hand remains localized to the area in which it originated and poses little risk to health. The are also said to be none cancerous.
